WASH 2014 Kicks Off

The four day long National Level Training on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene 2014 (WASH 2014) kicked off on 17 March at CV Raman Auditorium, Kathmandu University.

The third session in the series of WASH trainings that started in 2012, WASH 2014 started with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha, Dean of Research, School of Engineering, KU. Prof. Shrestha highlighted  the endeavors of establishing KU as a hub for WASH and stressed the importance of WASH both as an academic subject and a practical issue.

The opening program progressed with a short remark by Mr. Ashutosh Tiwari, Country  Representative of Water Aid, who outlined a short history of the program as well as the activities of Water Aid in relation with KU. He further expressed the importance of the role played by universities at educating as well as creating awareness in local communities.

WASH 2014 is participated by a diverse group of people including personnel from various NGOs/INGOs, health sectors, civil engineering, media and students of various institutions.
