University Edition of Promotional Event for Startup Weekend Held

On 29th October 2017 a team of student volunteers of Kathmandu University organized a promotional event for Startup Weekend Kathmandu: University Edition. The event was held in CV Raman Auditorium, Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel. The speakers of the event were Asst. Professor of School of Management Mr. Rupesh Krishna Shrestha and founding member of Nepal Entrepreneurs’ Hub Mr. Karmath Dangol. Both the speakers talked mostly about the Startup Weekend and the benefits of being a part of it. Also, students from the organizing team briefed the participants about the event, its main highlights and motivated them to bring forward their ideas by applying to the event. They shared their insights regarding the importance of Startups and entrepreneurship with the audience that almost filled the auditorium, and answered questions that students in the audience asked later on.Startup Weekends are 54-hour long events where developers, designers, marketers, product managers, startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, build products and launch startups. Teams go from an idea scrawled on a napkin to a working prototype and maybe even paying customers, all within a single weekend. Startup Weekends are a global phenomenon with events being held in 1000+ cities across the world. In Nepal alone, NEHUB has held 10 Startup Weekends with over 550 participants. This is the first time Startup Weekend is being held for university level students. The event is set for Nov 10, 11 and 12, and will be held in Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) premises, Balkumari. The deadline to submit applications is the November 04, 2017 (Saturday). The students, faculty and alumni can apply to be a part of the event.
