In a bid to enhance the practical skills and knowledge of its students, the Department of Management Informatics and Communication (DoMIC) at Kathmandu University, School of Management, organized a comprehensive workshop on “Computer Troubleshooting and Repair.” This hands-on workshop, held on December 15, 2023, provided participants with a unique opportunity to delve into desktop computer hardware disassembly, reassembly, and troubleshooting techniques.

The program was inaugurated with a welcome note and an introduction by the training coordinator, Mr. Narayan Niroula, and Head of Department (HOD) Dr. Khagendra Acharya. The training sessions were conducted by Mr. Sameer Tamrakar and Mr. Bibas Neupane, the seasoned professionals in the field of computer.

In the workshop, the participants were familiarized with the importance of following safety protocols to ensure their well-being during hardware- related tasks. The session then delved into the identification and understanding of various components/parts of a desktop computer, laying the groundwork for the practical exercises that followed. The heart of the workshop was the hands-on training program, where students actively participated in the disassembly and reassembly of a desktop computer. The participants gained valuable insights into the inner workings of computer hardware, fostering a deeper understanding of the technology they interact with daily.

Another crucial aspect of the workshop was the troubleshooting techniques for common computer hardware problems. Through real-world scenarios and case studies, the participants developed problem-solving skills.

The workshop also introduced the participants to the fundamentals of computer networking. This added dimension provided a holistic view, equipping students with a broader skill set in the realm of information technology.
