Master in Higher Education (One Year)

Image

The program, Master in Higher Education, is designed to meet the pedagogical knowledge and skills requirement of teachers involved in University and college (henceforth Higher Education, which is abbreviated as HE) teaching.  To enable HE teachers to facilitate the learning process and enhance students' performance, this program provides participants with an opportunity to experience the interplay between theoretical insights and their context-specific use of pedagogical processes.  Moreover, this program provides an opportunity for teachers to learn about the importance of learning (the primary importance) via teaching (the secondary importance).  It also raises several professional issues associated with educational processes enabling HE teachers to cultivate the linkage between classroom teaching and better student learning.

Learning Outcomes

On the successful completion of this course, participating HE teachers (henceforth participants) will be able to demonstrate a ‘sound’ understanding of

  • issues in higher education in the context of their work;
  • essential knowledge and skills to develop teaching and other forms of planning (trimester, semester, and annual) required in their context of work;
  • a host of pedagogical approaches and their applicability in the participants’ classroom practice;
  • different forms of assessment methods and their uses in the context of participants’ work;
  • a host of curriculum development models (outcomes-based, content-driven, activity-driven, etc.) and their usefulness in the context of their work.
