Sports Week Inaugurated
Dhulikhel, 15 May 2015Sports Week 2016 is inaugurated today by Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, Registrar of Kathmandu University by kicking football at the Central campus football ground. Organized by Students Welfare Directorate, this event is scheduled to continue till 21 May.
In the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Thapa expressed happiness for making the event happen and expressed gratitude to the Directorate and organizing committees. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Deepak Subedi, the Director of the Directorate, appreciated the work of his team and organizing committees. He said such events would contribute to overall development of the students, and hoped that the students' would participate enthusiastically and maintain principles of fair play. Ashesh Byanju, Chief coordinator, thanked Welfare Directorate and all the students for their dedication to organize the event. He also hoped that students would participate enthusiastically.
Prof. Panna Thapa, Controller of the examinations; Dr. Bhupendra Bimal Chhetri, Dean of School of Engineering; Mr. Mukunda P. Upadhaya, Chief administrative officer; HoDs and Coordinators of different departments released pigeons to mark the commencement of the Sports week. The ceremony was attended by faculty members, staffs, and students.
During this week, several outdoor and indoor games will be held. Nearly 800 students from different schools of the University are participating.
Importantly, sports week 2016 is being held this year after an interval of six years.
