Shrashta Bhetghat in School of Arts

Hattiban, organized yet another event in the series "Shrasta Bhetghat" (Meet the Writer) in its auditorium on May 6, 2014. Poets Manjul and Sulochana
Manandhar were the guests of this episode.
The event was organized targeting the students of Media Studies with
special focus on the course, "Appreciation of Nepali Literature".
Students and faculty of KUSoA attended the event.
The program commenced with a welcome
speech and the introduction of the poets and their works by Prof. Dr. Jangab
Chauhan, Associate Dean of KUSoA. It moved ahead with the screening of
"Anubhutikaa Thopaaharu" (Drops of Experiences), a video comprising
30 poems by Sulochana Manandhar. The screening was followed by recitation of
poems by poet Manjul from his recently released book, Balyakaalsanga Kheldai (Playing with Childhood). Poet Sulochana
Manandhar also recited some poems from her latest collection Raat (Night). Aarati Thapa, a student of
Bachelor in Media Studies and a talented singer, sang a song penned by poet
Manjul and composed by Shubha Bahadur.
Poet Manjul has published a novel, six
collections of poems, three travelogues, and hundreds of songs.
"Triveni," an album of songs written by him, composed by the Japanese
composer Haruhito, and sung by Sunita Subba, is considered to be an outstanding
work of art. An active member of the renowned Ralpha movement, Manjul used to
travel along Nepali villages singing songs on guitar. A number of his works
have also been translated into English and other languages.
Poet Sulochana Manandhar has two
collections of poems, a travelogue and a video CD of poetry to her credit. She is
considered to be one of the prominent women voices from Nepal, and has been the
member of Nepal Academy.
