Aquatic Ecology Centre (AEC)Assessment of Water Availability and Water Use in Post-earthquake Context” with financial support from HELVETAS/Nepal. The overall objective of the assessment is to provide an overview of water availability and water use situation in the Melamchi watershed area especially in the VDCs with water use master plans. This will be a good input for water sector agencies and National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) who is in-charge of the post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation works.

The effective assessment duration is 45 days with 5 person days for desk study, 30 days for field work and 10 days for report preparation. The assessment is expected to start from last week of November 2016 and should be completed within January 2017.

A small team (possibly one research lead and another associate) of technical and social experts is expected to carry out the assessment in order to cover technical and social dimensions of the issue. The research lead should have, at least, Master degree in water resource management, natural resources management, social sciences or related field. Previous experience in water resource management and WUMPs preparation would be an advantage. The associate, at least with Bachelor degree, with general experiences on rapid assessment/survey, stakeholder consultations and focus group discussions would be an advantage.
