The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh State in India Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan felicitated Dr. Subodh Sharma, Professor of Environmental Science and Director of Research at Kathmandu University, on the 65th Day of ‘Namami Devi Narmade-Seva Yatra’ amidst a massive gathering of people including villagers, saints, and activists along the bank of river Narmada at Lohara village of Badwani district. Similarly, the Zoological Society of India (ZSI) conferred Dr. Sharma a gold medal for his outstanding researches and academic contributions in the field of aquatic science, at the International Conference on Ecosystem Responses to Global Environmental Changes and Its Effects (16-18 Feb. 2017) hosted jointly by the ZSI and School of Life Sciences Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya Indore (India) & P.G. Department of Zoology, AIMS, at Dhamnod.
Speaking at the Press Conference on the eve of South Asian Speakers Summit held in Indore, Dr. Sharma highlighted the effects of climate change on water uses and availability especially in a spring fed river like Narmada and emphasized the need to understand the linkages for conservation of this river- lifeblood of the State of Madhya Pradesh.
