A paper with the title, "Research-based education for industrial development: Experiences of Kathmandu University in turbine technology" has been presented in International Conference on Advancements in Engineering Education (iCAEED-2019), 24-28 Nov 2019, Sydney, Australia.
The paper summarizes the different pedagogy and teaching-learning approaches practiced by KU at different stages of its development. A particular focus is given on how the 'Project-Based Learning Method' has evolved and institutionalized at the School of Engineering. Cases of scientific studies in the field of hydro-turbine technology, from the identification of the problem to the industrial application of solutions, by the systematic stages of R&D activities in close cooperation with supporting partners like NTNU, are elaborated for a general understanding.
This work has been acknowledged by the best paper award runner-up at the conference. A certificate and plague for the same have been granted.
