Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SNV Nepal and Kathmandu University – School of Engineering

On 5 May 2022, an MoU was signed between SNV Nepal and Kathmandu University (KU) – School of Engineering. The MoU was initiated and coordinated at Kathmandu University by the Global Sanitation Graduate School (GSGS) Project, School of Engineering, KU.

On behalf of SNV Nepal, Country Director - Ms. Ami Reza, and on behalf of Kathmandu University, Dean of School of Engineering - Prof. Dr. Manish Pokharel signed the MoU.

Mr. Suman Dhun Shrestha (GSGS Program Coordinator, KU) and Mr. Nischal Khadka (Researcher, GSGS Project, KU) started the ceremony with a brief presentation on the GSGS Project activities and proposed some areas of collaboration. Prof. Dr. Manish Pokharel (Dean – School of Engineering, KU) shared about Kathmandu University and its academic programs.

From SNV Nepal, Ms. Ami Reza (Country Director), Mr. Abhaya Kanta Sigdel (Sanitation Financing and FSM Services Advisor) and Ms. Manima Budhathoki (Governance and BCC Advisor) shared about SNV Nepal and highlighted their interest in the sector of Urban WASH, Climate Change Adaptation, and Social Inclusion in local government. Earlier in March, experts from SNV Nepal also gave classes to the Master’s students at Kathmandu University.

The areas of collaboration mentioned in the MoU are:

  1.  Collaborative research of mutual interest, learning opportunities and creating consistency in that sector
  2.  Sector level events
  3.  Student internships and practical exposure to professional learning courses
  4.  Resource person exchange in Water & Sanitation technologies, BCC (Behavior Change and Communication), Governance, etc.
