MIT Global Startup Lab in Collaboration with KU and powered by Ncell

The seven weeks Entrepreneurship Bootcamp organized by Global Startup Labs of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) USA in collaboration with Kathmandu University and powered by Ncell Pvt. Ltd. has completed on August 2 at Kathmandu. The closing was followed by keynote speech from dignitaries and presentation of the Startup Ideas by the participants.

A total of 35 participants including current students and alumni of Kathmandu University were selected from the pool of 150 applicants. The participants were divided into 9 groups and courses in entrepreneurship and technology were provided by instructors from MIT and KU.

The program was addressed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha along with Mr. Suren J Amarasekara, Managing Director of Ncell Private Limited, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Regional CEO, South Asia, Axiata Group Bhd, Ms. Sumana Shrestha, Management Consultant and Corporate Coach, MIT, Assistant Professor Rupesh Krishna Shrestha, KU and Prof. Jeffery S. Ravel, MIT

The Startup Ideas were judged by the panel of jury which includes Mr. Atulya Pandey, CEO and Co-founder of Pagevamp, Ms. Ayushi KC, CEO and Founder of Khalisisi, Nikita Acharya, CEO and Co-founder of Urban Girls, UG Cakes, UG Choclates and Himal Karmacharya, President and founder of Leap Frog.

Among the ideas pitched, “Sajilo Marmat Sewa”,“Kinder”, and ”Opus” was declared winner, first runner up and second runner up respectively. A seed fund of with NRs. 5 lakhs, Nrs. 3 lakhs and NRs. 2 lakhs was awarded to the winner, first runner up and second runner up respectively along with working space at KUSOM Business Incubation Center. All the participants were provided with certificate from online MIT Micro master’s program.
