MeD Organized One Day Workshop on ‘globalDrive’ Project
Department of Mechanical Engineering (www.ku.edu.np/mech), School of Engineering, organized a one day workshop on ‘globalDrive,’ a project from the Technical University of Munich, on 23 November 2014 at TTL Auditorium. German delegates representing TU Munich, Associate Professors from the Department, students enrolled in Masters’ Program and some undergraduates from both Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering attended the program.
The program commenced with the welcome speech by Dr. Hari Prasad Neopane, Associate Professor and Head of Department. He spoke about cooperation between the two institutes to achieve academic excellence. Dr. Bivek Baral, Associate Professor and the Director of Technical Training Center (TTC) and Dr. Daniel Tuladhar, Associate Professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, participated actively in the interaction. German delegates spoke on the project ‘globalDrive,’ which was about the use of electric vehicles in Nepal and especially in rural areas.
The discussion was followed by a presentation entitled Typical Use Cases of Electric Vehicle in Rural Region, Population Development, Street and Path conditions in Nepal and Environmental Conditions by final year undergraduates from the Department. The workshop was mainly focused on the use of electric vehicles on different sectors like transportation, tourism, infrastructure and healthcare. The integration of different modules on an existing electric vehicle to meet multiple public use was of primary concern. Design sketches were presented on healthcare module and transportation module at the end of the session. The program ended formally with some concluding thoughts by Dr. Bivek Baral, Dr. Daniel Tuladhar and the German guests.
