Kathmandu University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Achyut Wagle addressed the 100th Annual General Body Meeting of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Conference of Vice-Chancellors, hosted by Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, organised from 28-30 April 2026.

Prof. Wagle spoke on the theme “Promoting Internationalization in Higher Education”, highlighting the following themes: expanding the scope of Internationalisation in higher education from the traditional narrative to the future needs; creating orientalism-focused curricula for universities; Kathmandu University’s endeavours in internationalisation; repositioning higher education to enable it to address the challenges posed by excessive use of AI; climate change and global inter-dependence as well as opportunities thereof, and the role of academics above and beyond geopolitical competition and conflicts.

Kathmandu University, an Associate Member of the AIU, hosted the AIU North-Zone Vice-Chancellors’ Meet in February 2024 in Dhulikhel.
