Kathmandu University School of Management (KU SOM) took part in the MAGENDA
Transnational Project Meeting, held on 6 - 7 October 2026 at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, Bangladesh.
MAGENDA brings together ten partners from Nepal, Bangladesh, Greece and Belgium to advance gender equality in higher education. Under the project, six universities in Nepal and Bangladesh have approved and are implementing institutional Gender Equality Plans (GEPs). European partners support them with training and technical expertise.
The meeting gave partners a chance to review implementation progress, discuss ongoing activities and remaining deliverables, and agree on next steps across the project’s work packages.
KU SOM’s contributions
Representing KU SOM, Asst. Prof. Sabina Baniya C. Pokhrel presented the student pilot activities carried out under Work Package 3: Student Awareness and Engagement. Her presentation covered KU SOM’s efforts to build student awareness of gender equality and involve students.
Asst. Prof. Dipesh Karki presented plans for the National Policy Roundtable and a Policy Brief on gender equality in academia. Both activities aim to carry the project’s findings into national policy dialogue.
Learning from student ambassadors
The KU SOM team also met student ambassadors at BAU and exchanged experiences of student-led gender equality initiatives. The exchange gave both sides practical ideas for strengthening student engagement at their institutions.
The meeting reaffirmed the partners’ shared commitment to advancing gender equality in higher education through coordinated implementation, institutional engagement and sustained collaboration.
