KU Held Twentieth Convocation Ceremony

Kathmandu University awarded graduation to 1,246 students from various streams in the second program of its 20th Convocation Ceremony on December 12, 2014. In the first phase of the ceremony organized on November 8, a total of 1037 students of awarded degrees in different programs of Medical Sciences.

Among the graduates were 401 from School of Management, 191 from School of Science, 259 from School of Engineering, 242 from School of Arts and 83 from School of Medical Sciences. The University conferred certificates to 41 foreign students from 17 different countries.

Meanwhile, the University awarded the graduates of PhD Civil Engineering, PhD Biotechnology, PhD Ethnomusicology, Master in Landscape Management and Heritage Studies, M.Tech in Biotechnology, BHTM and Bachelor in Nursing Science, for the first time.

Shraddha Pant of MBA was awarded with the Chancellor Gold Medal and Juddha Bahadur Shrestha Gold Medal, while Rabin Dongol and Bidhya Sharma were awarded with Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal and Rana Bahadur Shah Gold Medal, respectively.

A total of 18,191 graduates have been produced by the university till date which includes 8,343 graduates from Medical Sciences and 9,848 from various other streams.

Speaking on the occasion, Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Sushil Koirala, Chancellor of KU, shared his belief of how the youths could take the country to a new level if they really wished for it.

Similarly, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha expressed how fortunate he was to see all the graduates on the significant day and wished them all the best for future. The speech of the chief guest of the ceremony, Dr. Satya Mohan Joshi, the doyen of Nepali Folk Culture, who was unable to attend the function because of his poor health, was recited by Prof. Dr. Sanjay Nath Khanal.
