Keynote Speech at the International Conference, "Myth, History and Tradition in Drama and Theatre,"

Khagendra Acharya, Associate Professor and Associate Dean of the School of Management, delivered keynote speech at the international conference, "Myth, History and Tradition in Drama and Theatre," organised by Central University of Karnataka on 2 December 2025.

In his address, Dr. Acharya initially higlighted the nature of drama after the dawn of Artificial Intelligence, and retrospectively synthesized the history of the genre since early civilization. He then elucidated how myths and histories have become bedrock foundation of many dramatists refererring to the works of the playwrights from antiquity till the present time. Also, assessing the history of the traditions of drama and theatre, he stated that there is a tradition of undoing, at least, the earlier tradition.

Stating that there is a huge corpus and vast tradition, he reiterated that there is no escape from this reality. Consequently, he proposed collage drama as an opportunity to use multiple sources, wherein creativity can be exercised through suture like activity.
