Inauguration of Prof. Inge Johansen Engineering Block
On Saturday 30th of October 2010 (Kartik 13 2067), the Nepalese Minister of Energy Honourable Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat and the Norwegian Minister for Trade and Industry Honourable Mr. Trond Giske jointly inaugurated the newly built Engineering Block (Prof. Inge Johansen Engineering Block) at Kathmandu University Dhulikhel Campus. The building was constructed from KU’s own sources at a cost of about 60,000,000 NRs. The building has been named in the honour of Norwegian Professor Inge Johansen who has been instrumental to the engineering education since the inception of the School of Engineering at KU. Professor Johansen not only contributed to the establishment of Engineering Program at KU, his contribution in starting up of the Postgraduate Program in Electrical Power Engineering was equally significant. Recently he has helped in establishing KU at a prominent hub for renewable energy research by assisting in the cooperation between Kathmandu University-Norwegian University of Science and Technology-SINTEF Energy Research. The inauguration programme was attended by the Kathmandu University family, people from hydropower sector, representatives of Norwegian Embassy and NORAD.
