HiCCDRC Completed a Workshop on Climate Change - India

The Himalayan Cryosphere, Climate and Disaster Research Center (HiCCDRC), Kathmandu University, has successfully completed a Training Workshop on Climate change, Himalayan Glaciology and Glacio-hydrological Modeling in Hemavati Nandan Bahuguna (HNB) Garhwal University (A central University), Srinagar, Uttarakhand, India.

The workshop was held from 6 to 8 September 2016. The training workshop was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of HNB Garhwal University, Prof. Dr. Jawahar Lal Kaul. He emphasized the importance of the Himalayas in our life and adaptation/mitigation measures to tackle the impacts of climate change. There were 27 participants included students and faculties. There were three participants from Kabul University, Kabul, Afghanistan. All three are faculties of Hydromet and Geography Departments of Kabul University. The training workshop was carried out as a part of the Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) Seed Grant Project funded by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD).

Kathmandu University is the lead university of the capacity building project and other four partners of the project are Sherubtse College, Bhutan, Kabul University, Afghanistan, Karakorum International University, Pakistan and Hemavati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, India.

 


 

The coordinator of HiCCDRC, KU, Dr. Rijan Bhakta Kayastha, conducted the training workshop as a Resource Person and Prof. Dr. Ramesh C. Sharma, Head of the Department of Environmental Science, HNB Garhwal University gave Special Lecture on Climate Change.
