Fulbright Specialist Dr. John Galbraith visited Kathmandu University

Dr. John Galbraith, Associate Professor at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA, has completed his visit to Kathmandu University as a Fulbright Specialist from 16^th May to 8^th June, 2012.  Dr. Galbraith is a Soil Scientist and Geomophologist specializing on soil genesis, classification and mapping and has expertise on wetland (hydric) soils.

John received his B.S. in Range and Wildlife Management at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX in 1978, and completed a M.S. in Range Science at Texas Tech in 1983 after working as a USDA Range Conservationist for two years. John worked for seven years after 1983 as a USDA-SCS Soil Scientist in four states and did soil survey work in four other states. John went back to school to complete a Ph.D. in Soil Science at Cornell in 1997 under the employee degree program. John did a post-doc at Cornell and the University of Florida. John began working at Virginia Tech in 1999 and concentrates on soil and wetland science. John teaches many courses and coaches the student soil judging team. John is a state certified soil scientist and professional wetland delineator. He offers training sessions in hydric soils and wetland delineation, and is involved in numerous research studies.

During his short time at KU, John was involved in guest lectures for both undergraduate and graduate students, student research supervision and counseling, serving as external examiner for Ph.D. defense, and numerous field visits to examine landforms and soils.  The list of talks and presentations given by John are as follows:
