First Program of Twenty-Third Convocation Held

The first program of the 23rd Convocation of Kathmandu University was held awarding degrees to the graduates of School of Medical Sciences.

This year 1189 graduates received degrees, including 4 in M.Ch. and DM, 115 in MD, 54 in MS, 3  in MDS, 2 in M.Sc., 571 in MBBS, 155 in BDS, 208 in B.Sc. (Nursing), 58 in BNS and 19 in BPT.

The Program was chaired by Mr. Gopal Man Shrestha, Honorable Deputy Prime Minister, Miniter of Education and Pro-Chancellor of KU.

Addressing the ceremony as the Chief Guest, Dr. Mohan Man Sainju,  distinguished scholar, planner and diplomat, said that KU has set itself as an exemplary university of Nepal, and suggested the students to believe in team spirit and proceed in life with a plan that is practical, attainable and appropriate.

Similarly, the Pro-Chancellor expressed the need of qualified human resources in deprived sectors and that the graduates had to implement their knowledge and skills in those sectors to give a new and better direction to the society and nation.

Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, the Vice Chancellor, urged the graduates to take the lead in their respective fields and to leave their marks for the generations to come. He advised them to challenge the convention the way KU did to change the landscape of health in the country.
