Industrial Training introduced at Kathmandu University refers to professional experience that is relevant to professional development prior to their graduation. It has been a great opportunity for the students to learn about the industry, to establish important contacts and most importantly, to seed the beginnings for their career in chosen profession.
Department of Mechanical Engineering of Kathmandu University initiated a completely new fashion of exposing its students to an international arena through its credit-course industrial training program from this year. As per the regular course of the Undergraduate Final year, five students representing Department of Mechanical engineering were provided an opportunity to work as an internee at Asian Institute of Technology and CP Group of Companies, in Thailand.Sushil Tandukar and Nishant Gautam of B.E. in Mechanical Engineering Final year worked as an internee Engineer at AIT from 1st July- 31st July, 2009 focusing on the topic “Performance Analysis of AIT Model Gasifier Stove-A case study in context of Nepal” under the direct supervision of Prof. Shivappan Kumar, the Dean of School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), AIT. The students had done their final year project on the similar topic at KU.Three of the Final Year Mechanical Engineering students (Abhinav Pradhan, Prabij Joshi and Dipen Manadhar) also completed their 1 month internship in the leading Multinational Industry of Thailand Charoen Pokphand Group of Companies. There they had an oppurtunity to work with Thai Engineers for the construction of Asias’ largest Rice Mill factory that is being erected in Industrial State of Thailand near Bangkok. The students were directly involved in the Civil, Mechanical andElectrical component of the industry.An experience of students:
