Participation in 7th IconSWM 2017

A delegation of Faculties and Students of Kathmandu University participated in the 7th International Conference on Solid Waste Management (IconSWM 2017) held in Hyderabad during Dec 15-17, 2017. The delegation included Dr.Nawa Raj Khatiwada, Associate Professor and Mr. Surya Man Shakya, Visiting Professor of Department of Environmental Science and Engineering. The six graduated students participating in the event wereNiveshDugar,NirmalBabuAryal, YugdipLuitel, SubashDhakal,Pushpa Singh and ChandaKhadka. The students belong to Masters of Technology in Environmental Engineering Program. IconSWM2017, was one of the largest sustainable conference platform of ISWMAW established in 2009 in India working for the betterment of SWM and environment protection. There were more than 240 Technical papers presented in 7th IconSWM 2017 deliberated on various issues related to innovation and implementation in sustainable waste management including segregation, collection, transportation, treatment technologies, policies & strategies, energy recovery, life cycle analysis, climate change, circular economy, research and business opportunities. It was attended by more than 400 delegates from nearly 30 countries. Dr. Khatiwada and Mr.Shakyapresented a paper in a plenary session and also chaired two technical sessionsin the conference.There were all together five papers presented in the conference from Kathmandu University. IconSWM- Springer Excellent Paper Award 2017 was awarded to Pushpa Singh which was co-authored by Dr. Nawa Raj Khatiwada and Mr.Surya Man Shakya....[more..]
