Dr. Gunjan Bisht Thapa, Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Natural Sciences (DONS), got a paper published entitled, Drug Delivery and Translational Research (An Official Journal of the Controlled Release Society, Spriger) doi: 10.1007/s13346-015-0225-3.
The paper deals with the
synthesis of protein-supported poly (2-
dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate)/ferrite nanocomposites through a supercritical
carbon dioxide (SCC)-assisted process. The
developed process extends large scale production of nanomagnetic PNCs for drug/
protein release applications with optimal release properties.
Dr.
Bisht has received “High
Pressure Compact Chemical Reactor” of Parr Instrument Company USA, under TWAS research
project grant entitled “Synthesis of Multi Purpose Magnetic Nanocomposites in Supercritical
Carbon Dioxide.” The awarded equipment has wide range of
applications including organic chemical reaction and catalysis in supercritical fluid extraction, hydrothermal
synthesis of metal oxide nanoparticles, metal
processing, insitu
blending of electrically conducting polymers, pharmaceutical
and biological materials processing, and preparation
and processing of nanoscale materials.
