Display of First Francis turbine manufactured in Nepal

TTL, July 09-

The first model Francis turbine designed and fabricated in Nepal for 4 MW capacity (Scaled down to 92 kW) has arrived at Turbine Testing Lab (TTL) for testing. This turbine has been designed by research team at TTL and was fabricated at Nepal Hydro & Electric Limited (NHE). The major funding was made available by RenewableNepal Programme for the Project, RENP-PID-437. As a project partner, NHE has also made a significant contribution to develop the competence in  manufacturing from this project.

Asst. Prof. Mr. Biraj Singh Thapa, Faculty-in-Charge, TTL has made a sincere request to have a visit and to give feedbacks for further activities. All the components of the turbine will be kept for display to the interested faculty members, staff, students and also to general public from 9 July to 10 July 2013. The components will be assembled and developed as a test rig from 11 July 2013 onwards.

The installation of the rig is planned to complete within 14 July 2013 and the preliminary testing to complete within the end of July, 2013.
