MoU with ICIMOD and OXFAM
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of Civil and Geomatics Engineering (DCGE), Kathmandu University and ICIMOD under project “Strengthening Geospatial Infrastructure and Research Capacity at Kathmandu University.” ICIMOD and DCGE will engage in capacity and innovative geo-enable web and mobile application development. The MoU includes the conditions for supporting student projects, geospatial mobile application development and advanced remote sensing research at KU. ICIMOD will also support with hardware and software for establishment of geospatial laboratory at the University and lend cooperation in exchange activities under NASA DEVELOP and SERVIR internship programs.
MoU with OXFAM under project “Developing Demonstration Model to Revive Springs for Enhancing Rural Water Security.” DCGE will produce a handbook describing the process for revival and enhancement of spring sources based on hydrogeological approach. Three springs at Dailekh and Surkhet have been chosen for case study to develop the handbook. OXFAM will support the financial as well as field-based activities during the project period. The project will last for seven months. DCGE will also be involved in monitoring activities beyond the project period.
