DCE starts Laboratory works

Department of Civil Engineering started laboratory works for Second Year Civil Engineering and Architecture students from January 19, 2021. The university which reopened partially after 10 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, welcomed a limited number of students with adequate health safety measures to carry out practical works that had been pending.

"Although there is a wide range of courses in various years at the undergraduate level, that demand practical works, we are not able to call all students because of the current health crisis. Therefore, the department started with second year Civil Engineering and Architecture students with Survey Engineering and Strength of Materials practicals, and Carpentry Lab with fewer people in each lab session. The department has provided students, faculties, and staff with necessary safety equipment such as face shield, gloves, sanitizer, and face masks." said Head of Department, Associate Professor, Dr. Prachand Man Pradhan.

Assistant Professor, Manish Prakash, who teaches Survey Engineering affirmed that to maintain the minimum crowd during the fieldwork, students were divided into smaller groups so as to assure the least contact among students.

Mr. Kameshwar Sahani, Lecturer at DCE and currently teaching Strength of Materials was optimistic that the practicals would finish within the timeframe.

"The architecture program second year also started Carpentry Lab with proper health safety measures." told the coordinator of the Architecture Program Mr. Buddha Shrestha, "We will resume practicals of other years subsequently after the second year finishes their work."
