Call for Papers : The 2nd Pan-Himalayan Communication and Social Development Conference 2024

The Pan-Himalayan Regional Communication Research Center is going to organize the Second Pan-Himalayan Communication and Social Development Conference 2024 at Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Nepal, from October 2nd to 4th, 2024. 

The Pan-Himalayan Regional Communication Research Center is a joint initiative of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China & Kathmandu University. At Kathmandu University, the research center is hosted by the Department of Languages and Mass Communication.

Conference Theme: Digital Communication and Public Governance

Focus areas

  Including but not only limited to the following topics:

  • Transnational communication and the construction of a community with a shared future for the Himalayan region
  • Geopolitical changes and regional security challenges
  • Regionalism and cooperative governance
  • Eastern wisdom and cooperative governance
  • Digital Silk Road and Regional Communication
  • Digital communication and rural development
  • Cross-cultural communication and ethnic exchange and integration
  • Belt and Road Initiative and Regional Media Cooperation
  • Research on traditional and emerging public opinion environment in the Himalayan region
  • Research on telling the stories of countries in the Himalayan region
  • History of journalism and communication in the Himalayas
  • History, culture, and international communication of the Himalayan region
  • Other related topics

Paper and abstract submission deadline: July 30th, 2024

  1. The organizing committee will organize experts to review the submitted document after the deadline, and a formal invitation letters will be sent in due time. 

  2.  Participants are invited to author papers or abstracts based on the theme of the forum and submit them via email. 

  3. Submitted papers and abstracts must be original in nature and not be published in other academic conferences, proceedings, or journals.

  4. The length of the paper can be between 3,000 to 5,000 words while the length of the abstract can be about 500 words. Please indicate the title of the paper/abstract, author's name, work institution and title, mobile phone number, contact address, postal code, email address and other information when submitting your manuscript. 

  5. This academic conference has free registration for participants. However, participants are responsible to take care of their own transportation, board and lodge. 

  6. All papers/abstracts should be presented in accordance with APA format.

Papers and abstracts should be submitted via email. Please keep the manuscript for yourself as it will not be returned. The subject of the email should be marked with "Proposed Topic + Paper/Abstract Title + Name".
