Call for Application for Admission in Undergraduate Program Academic Year 2024
Kathmandu University (KU) calls for applications for admission in B.E. Chemical Engineering, School of Engineering (SoE) for the academic year 2024. Candidates are required to appear in a paper-based entrance exam (PBT).

International Applicants: 10 percent of seats are reserved for foreign applicants (Fee 1.5 times of normal fee for SAARC Countries and 2 times of normal fee for other countries)
Eligibility Criteria and CBT Test Group For Admission
- In order to be fully eligible for admission, candidates must have passed 10+2 level (or equivalent) with a minimum aggregate GPA of 2.0 or Aggregate 50% in percentage scale.
- Candidates must have appeared in entrance exam conducted by the Department of Chemical Science and Engineerig, Kathmandu University and scored the required threshold as set by the School.
- Candidates who have completed +2 equivalent GCSE A-Level shall have at least 3 courses at Advanced Level (A level) and 1 in AS level. Whenever percentage uniform mark (PUM) criteria are provided, then, aggregate 50% in percentage
scale will be applicable. If PUM is not provided Grade D in PCM will be applicable. For International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma students must have at least 6 courses including PCM. Student must have final IB grade of 3 in each course with
aggregate of 24.

- CTEVT diploma holders (3 years education after SLC/SEE) may apply in the related discipline corresponding to their field of study in the diploma level. Eligibility requirements are same to that of percentage criteria for NEB +2 graduates.
- In case of dispute related to application, eligibility, entrance exam and final score, decision of admission committee will be final.

Overview of entrance exam
- Total duration of test is two hours and has 120 multiple choice questions in total.
- The test contains three parts one for each in PCM. There are 40 multiple choice questions in each part. The questions are distributed uniformly across the topics of the syllabus
- Each question carry equal marks.
- A candidate shall at least obtain minimum score (university will set the score) for being eligible to be offered admission in respective programs.
Students who have already completed grade 11 and 12 (or equivalent) and those awaiting for grade 11 and 12 (or equivalent) and those awaiting for grade 12 results are eligible to apply. The latter will be admitted on provisional basis.
Important Schedules and Note
- Registration, application form filling and payment open from May 09, 2024.
- Entrance schedule will be provided immediately after the application.
- Classes will commence around August 2024. The exact date will be announced later.

The Name of the candidate and other details should match with the KUCAT-CBT 2024 Application Form details.
Note: Download the receipt of the transaction and note the Reference Code/Transaction ID which is needed for the Application Form. The downloaded receipt needs to be uploaded to the Application Form.
