Biography

Bijendra Shrestha is an Assistant Professor and Master Program Coordinator at Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, Kathmandu University. He has completed his Bachelor in Engineering (2010) and Master in Science by Research in Engineering (2013) in the field of Mechanical Engineering from Kathmandu University, Nepal. He started his professional career as a Lecturer at Kathmandu University and associate with energy related research activities with national and international academic cum research institution. As a research engineer he conducted research on different stoves for cooking, refrigeration and electricity jointly with University of Nottingham, UK. He has expertise in Waste to Energy technologies for producing sustainable renewable energy. He has led Waste to Energy related projects funded by University Grants Commission – Nepal and Korean International cooperation Agency (KOICA). Currently, he is a Project In-charge for the project called Integrated Rural Development of Nepal by Strengthening Research and Development Capacity of Kathmandu University which mainly focus on Renewable Energy, Agriculture and Rural Development and Health related livelihood.

Honors and Awards

1. Awarded with Erasmus Mundus Mobility with Asia West Scholarship and was enrolled at LUCIAN BLAGA University of Sibiu, Romania, " Hermann Oberth" Faculty of Engineering, for 6 months (September 2011 - February 2012), within the frame of Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Windows Program.

2. Awarded with "The Best Practice Award" on The 11th International Conference - ASIAN Community, Knowledge Networks for the Economy, Society, Culture, and Environment Stability Organized by Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, Thailand and Kathmandu University, Nepal held on 30 March-3 April 2015 in Nepal for paper "Upgrading the Performance of Biomass Metallic Improved Cooking Stove Disseminated in Nepal by Blending WAPIC as an inbuilt System.

3. Awarded with Korean Won 300,000 on "2017 International S.M.A.R.T Venture Competition" organized by Seoul National University (SNU) in South Korea from 14-18 February 2017
