Biography

Dr. Bed Mani Dahal is a Professor of Environmental Science in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Kathmandu University, Nepal since 1997. He has received MSc. degree in Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University, the Netherlands and PhD degree in Environment and Development Studies from Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway. His researches and research interest are mainly in interdisciplinary research on environment and development; agricultural intensification effects on livelihood, food security, soil and water resources; and water issues (quality, pollution, waste/water treatment, & conservation).

Senate member as teacher's representative of Kathmandu University Senate, supreme body of the university for policy making and implementation from 2016-2018.

President of Kathmandu University Professors' Association from 2016-2020.

Life member of Forum of Natural Resource Managers (FONAREM) since 2012. General Secretary of the FONAREM for the year 2012-2014.

Member of Nepali Society in Aas (NEPSA), Norway from 2004-2009 and secretary of NEPSA for the year 2005.

Founder member of National Institute for Conservation of Environment (NICE) since 1997.

Active member of Human Rights Organizations of Nepal (HURON) since 2003.

Life member of Netherlands Alumni Association of Nepal (NAAN) since 2002.

Advisory Member of Nature and Social Concern Society (NSCS), Kathmandu University since 2001.

Life member of Natural History Society of Nepal (NAHSON) since 1998.

Awards

Post-doctoral research award: NORHED, Norway funded project SUNREM-Himalaya, 2016-2018.

Nepal Vidhya Bhusan Ka, Government of Nepal, 2012.
