Nabil Gyan Jyoti Scholarship Endowment Fund established at Kathmandu University

An agreement was signed today, July 10, 2024, between Kathmandu University (KU) and Nabil Bank Limited to establish the "Nabil Gyan Jyoti Scholarship Endowment Fund" worth Rupees Two Million at KU. According to the agreement, the proceeds from the endowment will be used to provide scholarships to deserving and eligible students pursuing undergraduate programs at KUSOM, with a preference for bright students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who demonstrate high intelligence and outstanding academic performance.

The signing ceremony took place at the Nabil Bank Head Office in Durbarmarg, Kathmandu. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Bipin Adhikari from KU’s and Mr. Manoj Gyawali, Deputy CEO, from Nabil Bank’s side.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Gyawali emphasized the longstanding relationship between Kathmandu University and Nabil Bank and noted that the endowment would open a new chapter in their partnership. Mr. Krishna Subedi, Chief Marketing Officer of the Bank, expressed the bank's commitment to fostering the relationship between the two institutions in the future. On behalf of KU, Prof. Dr. Bipin Adhikari thanked Nabil Bank for its generous donation and highlighted the role of the endowment fund in advancing KU’s goal of increasing scholarship coverage.

The establishment of the Nabil Gyan Jyoti Scholarship Endowment fund significantly bolsters KU’s efforts towards utilizing endowment funds as an alternative source of funding to expand access to higher education in Nepal.
