Visit from the University of Tokyo

A team of faculties and students from University of Tokyo, Japan visited the Department of Civil & Geomatics Engineering (DCGE) on 2nd September 2014. Mr. Prachand Man Pradhan, Act. Head of Department gave a welcome speech. Assoc. Prof. Yoshihide Sekimoto, Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo gave presentation on “People Flow (PFLOW) Project”.


Similarly, students from Civil Engineering Department, Institute of Industrial Science, Japan, presented their projects “Use of ICT for the Flow of Vegetables from the Farmers to the Market” and “Exploration of business possibilities for infrastructure monitoring using crowd-sourcing technology”. In same program, Dr. Dinesh Manandhar, Visiting Researcher, University of Tokyo gave insights about Japanese QZSS (Quasi Zenith Satellite System) and Its Applications. He also handed over some devices, Software Driven Radio (SDR) and GPS Evaluation Kit to the Department. The presentation sessions were also followed by discussion sessions and finally vote of thanks was delivered by Assoc. Dean, School of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ramesh Kumar Maskey. Mr. Subash Ghimire, Geomatics Program Coordinator hosted the program as MC.

After the presentation sessions, a close meeting between faculties of University of Tokyo and DCGE, Kathmandu University was held for the future collaboration and joint research activities, particularly in Geomatics Engineering sector. The meeting was chaired by the Acting Head of Department, Mr. Prachand Man Pradhan.
