Workshop on Understanding Plagiarism

21-23 June, 2017
Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Nepal

Background

Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone’s work or ideas as if it is his or her own work. According to the Merriam-webster online dictionary, plagiarism means as follows:

Plagiarism is considered as an act of fraud. This happens a lot in academic. IEEE publishes a list called Prohibited Authors List (PAL) that contains the name of authors who were found to have violated IEEE’s publishing conduct guidelines and consequently have been banned from submitting new manuscripts to IEEE’s journals and conferences (Click here).

To avoid such embarrassing situation, a research should be very aware about what plagiarism is about. This training is all about making graduate students and faculties aware about plagiarism and share knowledge about how to avoid it. It also contains the hands-on exercises on paraphrasing.
