The University Felicitates Dhulikhel Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Representatives of Ward No.4

The University felicitated the newly elected members of Dhulikhel Municipality in a program held at the Main Campus on 1 June 2017. Among the officials to be honored were Mr. Ashok Byanju, Mayor; Ms. Bimala Sharma, Deputy Mayor; Mr. Ravindra Karmacharya, Chair of Ward No. 4 and Ward Members Ms. Sajana Pariyar, Ms. Suna Magarati, Mr. Prem Karki and Mr. Uttam Timalsina

Speaking at the program, Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, the Vice Chancellor, emphasized that Dhulikhel Municipality and Kathmandu University should collaborate in the areas of common interest for the development of the local communities. He said that the University would work to become an important development partner to the Municipality through the vision of bringing knowledge and skills from 'campus to the community.'

In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Byanju highlighted the value of academic power, and invited Kathmandu University fraternity to support the Municipality in different areas including education and urban development. He also promised to extend all kinds of necessary support to the University, as a true representative of the people of Dhulikhel at large.  

Mr. Karmacharya, the chair of Ward no 4, pledged all kinds support and collaboration to the University.

In his brief remarks, Prof. Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma, the founding Vice Chancellor, recalled the role of Dhulikhel Municipality in the establishment of the University and wished the new team a successful tenure. He emphasized that the young and vibrant leadership of people’s representatives, should work towards creating infrastructures so as to give local youth competitive advantages in sports as well as in education.

In his vote of thanks, Prof.  Dr. Bhola Thapa, the Registrar welcomed the mayor as the University’s Senate Member. He also expressed the belief that with Kathmandu University and a competent team of elected representatives to work together, Dhulikhel Municipality will develop into a highly sought-after place of settlement in the future.

The program was attended by the Controller of Examinations,  Deans, Associate Deans, Heads, Coordinators, Professors, Chief Administrative Officer, Managers, Officers, other senior staffs and the representatives of the Student Welfare Council.
