Talk program on "MIT Computer Science — Innovating the Future" and interaction with between KU and MIT faculty and researchers

 

A talk program by Prof. Saman Amarasinghe, Global Startup Lab (GSL) Faculty Director, US Boston based Massachusetts Institute of Technology on “MIT Computer Science - Innovating the Future" was conducted on June 19, 2018 at Senate Hall, CV Raman Auditorium, Kathmandu University (KU). The program started with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha in which he shed light on the ongoing collaborations between KU and MIT. Then Prof. Saman presented the different cutting edge technologies and research works going on or accomplished in MIT. He concluded his presentation with a remark that in today’s globalized world, research has crossed all the frontiers and whatever was thought of impossible in the past is now possible with extended collaborations and sharing of knowledge and resources. The talk was followed by a short QA session after which Dr. Bal Krishna Bal, Associate Professor, DoCSE, KU made a closing remarks to the session. He remarked that in the recent years KU also has been gradually focusing on Research and that global initiatives on Research and Innovation by institutions like MIT were very instrumental and impactful in driving the Research.

The program then moved on to lunch which was attended by KU faculties and MIT delegates that included Ms Melanie Mala Ghosh Managing Director, MIT-South Asia MIT International Science & Technology Initiatives. Earlier she also had discussion with Principal of Kathmandu University High School Mr. Tejendra Rajbhandari to collaborate in the areas of mutual that would attract high school students towards science and technology. The event was in general a huge success with about 35 attendees participating in it. The MIT delegates left KU on a highly positive note and great optimism promising to visit KU again in the near future. [for more detail ......]
