Vice Chancellor applauds the leadership of Late Sushil Koirala in constitution building in Nepal at the conclusion of Sushil Koirala Memorial Football Tournament (December 26, 2017)

The Sushil Koirala Memorial Inter - Law - School Football Tournament concluded here today at the playground of Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel.

The event was coordinated and organized by Student Welfare Council of Kathmandu University School of Law from 22 to 26 December and was participated in by different law schools from different regions of Nepal.

In the final game of the tournament, the Kathmandu School of Law (KSL) defeated the host team of Kathmandu University School of Law (KUSL) by 3-1 in boys’ category and Chakraborty Law campus by 1-0 in girls’ category and won the winner title and Rs. 40,000 of cash prize in each category. KUSL won the title of 1st Runner-up in boys’ category and Chakraborty Law campus won the title of 1st Runner-up in girls’ category. Both the 1st Runner-up won Rs. 20,000 as cash prize.

Among the players who participated in the four day tournament, Ojaswi Paudel became the most valuable player in girls’ category, whereas in boys’ category Rajpal KC was adjudged as the most valuable player. Sushma KC and Ranjit Tamang were adjudged the best goalkeepers. Sabitri Pathak and Sahadev Khatri were declared the highest goal scorers in respective category.

The Chief Guest at concluding prize distribution ceremony on December 26 was former KU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Suresh Raj Sharma. Dr Dinesh Bhattarai, Mr Baburam Acharya and Mr Atul Koirala of Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation (SKMF) also graced the programme. All shields, medals and cash prizes were distributed to the winner team and others by the Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor Professor ( Dr) Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha and the attending officials of SKMF.

In the concluding ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Professor ( Dr) Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha expressed his pleasure that the Kathmandu University was able to organize this tournament which not only brought the law students of different law schools together, in a common platform, but also honoured Late Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, who was able to give crucial leadership to the nation in adopting the new Constitution of Nepal in a very volatile political situation in the country.

Delivering his concluding remarks, Dean of the School of Law Dr. Bipin Adhikari thanked all the participants from different law schools and the organizers of the Student Welfare Council who were at their best exhibiting the spirit of cooperation, competition and enthusiasm. Congratulating the winners he emphasized that sports events such as this one meant to showcase the collective talent of the youth help build physical stamina and teach us the value of discipline in the playground as well as outside. Adding further, he said, those who could not script victory on this occasion should not be disappointed but analyze their performance and set out on a further mission.

Dr Adhikari also thanked Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation for extending financial support to the Student Welfare Council to organize the first ever Inter - Law - School Football Tournament at Kathmandu University School of Law.
