A Letter of Agreement (LoA) was signed between the Water Resources Research and Development (WRRDC), Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Government of Nepal, Pulchowk, Lalitpur and School of Science, Kathmandu University (KU), Dhulikhel on 20 December 2021 at the Office of the Dean, School of Science, KU.
The Dean of School of Science, Prof. Dr. Kanhaiya Jha and the Executive Director of the WRRDC, Dr. Maheswor Shrestha signed the LoA. Dr. Rijan Bhakta Kayastha, Coordinator of the Himalayan Cryosphere, Climate and Disaster Research Center (HiCCDRC), Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Science, KU and Mr. Jebin Tamrakar, Senior Divisional Engineer and Chief of Climate Change and Research Section, WRRDC are the contact persons from the respective institutions.
The LoA has envisaged to carry out research on field based snow and glacier monitoring, glacio-hydrological and climate change related studies in Nepal with the financial support from the WRRDC in the current fiscal year 2078/79. Both parties are looking forward to continue such agreement in the coming years too in order to enhance knowledge on the status of snow, glaciers and water resources of Nepal.
