Kathmandu University welcomed the new Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa

Kathmandu University welcomed the new Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa in a program organized on 21 January 2021 at CV Raman Auditorium, Dhulikhel.

Rt. Hon'ble Chancellor and the Prime Minister Mr. KP Sharma Oli appointed Prof. Thapa as the Vice Chancellor of the University on 20 Jan 2021 for a period of four years.  The appointment followed the recommendation of the search committee headed by Hon'ble Pro-Chancellor and the Minister for Education Mr. Krishna Gopal Shrestha along with Mr. Daman Nath Dhungana, chairperson of the Board of Trustees, and , Prof. Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma,  founding Vice Chancellor. Prof. Dr. Thapa succeeds Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, whose second tenure as the Vice Chancellor ended on 20 January 2021.

Prof. Thapa holds a PhD (Dr. Ing) from Institute of Energy and Process Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. He completed Masters of Engineering (Mechanical) from Birla Insitute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, India.

Prof. Thapa had joined Kathmandu University in September 1994. He has served Kathmandu University for 27 years in different capacities such as Department In-charge, Head of Department, Associate Dean, Officiating Dean, Acting Dean, Dean, Registrar and Acting Vice Chancellor, in different time periods. He has authored 2 books Engineer of Engineering Education and Engineering Sikshyaka Engineer (Nepali)and has more than 90 research publications to his credit.
