Kathmandu University and Yatri Motorcycles Sign Agreement of Cooperation (AoC) for Technical Support and Industry-Academia Collaboration.

Kathmandu, July 2025 — In a strategic step toward advancing electric mobility and engineering education in Nepal, the Center for Electric Power Engineering (CEPE), Lighting Laboratory at DoEEE Kathmandu University (KU) and Yatri Motorcycles have entered into a formal agreement to collaborate in technical areas such as testing, validation, training, and research support.

This collaboration emphasizes the importance of bridging academia and industry, enabling both institutions to contribute toward the development of high-quality electric vehicle technologies and skilled human resources.Kathmandu University, an autonomous public institution known for its research and academic excellence, and Yatri Motorcycles, a leading Nepali electric motorcycle manufacturer, will jointly work through CEPE—KU’s specialized center for research in power systems, renewable energy, electrical machines, and lighting technologies.Yatri, with its focus on in-house engineering and local manufacturing, will benefit from CEPE’s infrastructure and academic support for testing and validation of electric vehicle components and systems.Key Areas of Technical Collaboration
The agreement outlines several areas of cooperation, including:

  • Testing and validation of electric vehicle components and complete systems. Especially lighting components
  • Development of testing protocols aligned with national and international standards
  • Technical exchange through training sessions, workshops, and guest lectures
  • Opportunities for student internships and faculty involvement in industry projects
  • Collaborative documentation and co-authorship of academic publications
  • Continuous performance data sharing for mutual technical enhancement
