Handover of the first installment for building Balram and Tara Pradhan Energy Block
Ms. Tara Pradhan, wife of late Mr. Balram Pradhan has handed over the first installment to KU for building Balram and Tara Pradhan Energy Block on 2nd July 2021. The event was organized by online means with the presence of officials, faculty members, and staffs of KU, and family members, relatives, close friends of Mr. Balram Pradhan. The event coincided with the birthday of Mr. Balram Pradhan.
The total amount as the first installment is NRs 15,00,000/-, (in words one and half million Nepalese Rupees only),
On 5th June 2021, an MOU has been signed between the School of Engineering, KU, and Pradhan's family, to establish a basket fund with seed money of NPR 4.5 Million coming from the family. It has been agreed that the basket fund remains open for the contribution from well-wishers of Balram Pradhan to support this noble process. A Sum of an additional 5 million NRP has already been committed to be contributed to the basket fund from 2 external grant projects running under Mechanical Engineering Department. The family of Mr. Pradhan is also raising additional funds from their network. It is expected that the basket fund will raise the total expected construction cost of 50 Million NPR from internal and external resources.
In the event, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, the VC of KU, thanked Pradhan’s family for allocating the private funds for public service through KU and committed that the building will be constructed in the shortest possible time and will be best utilized for research and education.
The building has been planned to be located next to the TTC building at KU and will be used as the facility for Mechanical Engineering Department's specialized research laboratory in the Energy area. The design of the building has already been completed and the tender for the construction of the building body has already been awarded by KU.
