A guest lecture on  "Advancing Next-Generation Telecoms: Convergence of 5G, AI and Open RAN" has been delivered by Asst.Prof. Vijay Shah, Assistant Professor, North Carolina (NC) State University, USA on 15 November, 2024 in Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Kathmandu University. Dr. Shah's talk titled "Advancing Next-Generation Telecoms: Convergence of 5G, AI and Open RAN" aligns perfectly with current trends in telecommunications. He also serves as the outreach director for AERPAW (Aerial Experimentation and Research Platform for Advanced Wireless), which is the first research platform focused on 5G technology and autonomous drones. Additionally, he leads the 6GNC initiative at NC State. His research encompasses several vital areas, including 5G and future 6G networks, Open RAN (O-RAN), AI/ML applications in wireless networks, and spectrum sharing. Dr. Shah’s work is generously supported by various federal and state agencies, including the NSF, NIST, and NTIA. He is also a co-author of Fundamentals of O-RAN, the first comprehensive book on this topic.
