Event on ESG: Compliance and Competitiveness

The Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the School in collaboration with the National Business Initiative (NBI) and with the support of the WTO Chairs Programme (WCP) Nepal, organized an event on “ESG: Compliance and Competitiveness,” bringing together industry leaders and scholars to discuss the role of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in sustainable development and trade competitiveness.

The event commenced with welcome remarks from Prof. Dr. Achyut Wagle, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University, and Mr. Kush Kumar Joshi, President of NBI, emphasizing the growing importance of ESG frameworks in shaping sustainable business practices.

A key feature of the event was the panel discussion titled “Navigating the ESG Landscape,” featuring Mr. Padma Jyoti, Chairman of Padma Jyoti Group; Mr. Shankar Prasad Pandey, President of the Federation of Export Entrepreneurs Nepal; Ms. Shanta Banskota Koirala, Director of Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Center; and Mr. Krishna Shah, Executive Director of Formation Carpet. The session was moderated by Mr. Suman Shakya, Founder of Target Waves. Panelists shared insights into ESG challenges and opportunities for businesses in Nepal. Mr. Sandeep Shrestha, Founder of Sustainability Solution, delivered a presentation on ESG compliance, highlighting its strategic importance and best practices for enhancing competitiveness. The Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, along with NBI and WCP Nepal, extends gratitude to all speakers and participants for their contributions to promoting sustainable business practices in Nepal.
