The Department of Language Education held a certificate-awarding ceremony on July 5, 2024, to recognize the participants who successfully completed the Intensive Language Education and Methodology, a three credit hours short course. This course, spanning three months, included extensive training in English language proficiency, education based on subject matter, learning through projects, and also focused on students' social and emotional development.
Ms. Erica Miller, course facilitator gave the introductory speech. She praised the participants for their commitment and diligent effort, emphasizing the significance of ongoing professional growth in the field of education. Similarly, Dr. Hem Raj Kafle, the Associate Dean of the School of Education, Kathmandu University, spoke to the attendees about the importance of the course. He stressed the importance of developing educators rather than just linguistic experts. He emphasized the issue of the inadequate quantity of English instructors and restated his dedication to developing educators who can have a significant influence in the classroom. "Teaching is a source of enlightenment," he declared, encouraging participants to motivate and cultivate instructors, even if it is just one teacher."
After Dr. Kafle's motivational address, Erica Miller distributed the certificates to the participants. The program generated a feeling of camaraderie and cooperation among the participants, who showed eagerness to apply their recently learned expertise in their educational environments.
