The department would like to congratulate Mr. Bikesh Bimali, an alumnus of Computer Engineering (2018-2023) from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Kathmandu University, for identifying and reporting a critical issue in Facebook Messenger. The bug allowed deleted messages to remain accessible on other devices due to improper handling of deletion requests. For this discovery, Mr. Bimali received $2,000 in prize money from Meta, the company that runs Facebook.

Currently, he is studying at Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA.
