Chinese Vice Minister’s Kathmandu University Visit

Mr. Li Qun, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism and Administrator of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, paid a visit to Kathmandu University before wrapping up his official visit. Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University, welcomed him and his team members to KU. In his remarks, Vice Minister Mr. Qun stated that he visited KU because he saw it as the future for young students in Nepal. Minister Qun emphasized that his team is willing to collaborate with KU on cultural heritage and other pertinent issues, citing the Confucius Institute (CI) as a crucial bridge between China and other nations.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Thapa emphasized the significance of CIKU and its commitment to developing not only the friendship between two nations but also boosting people-to-people ties when welcome the Vice Minister and his team to KU at the Confucius Institute, Bal Kumari. Prof. Thapa also shed light to the university's numerous internationalization initiatives and stressed their importance for the KU and other higher education institutions to grow together.

From the Chinese side, the program was attended by Li Luisan, President of the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage, Wen Dayan, Director of the Department of Exchanges and Cooperation, and Jiang Pengfei, Deputy Division Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. From the Nepalese side, the program was attended by Prof. Dr. Achyut Wagle, Registrar and Nepal Director of CIKU, Ms. Ekku Pun, Dean of the School of Arts and CIKU board member, Prof. Dr. Devi Prasad Bedari, Dean, School of Management, Dr. Uddhab Prasad Pyakurel, Acting Director of Global Engagement, KU and Dr. Wang Sheng Li.
