“Capacity Enhancement in Electrical Equipment Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnostics (CEEECoM)”, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union has been officially kicked-off in a meeting organized at Aalto University, Finland on 13-15th February 2023. The meeting formed a Project Board to look after the quality assurance of the project and an operational plan of the project was also drafted.

Kathmandu University, School of Engineering is one of the partners in the project. The objectives of the project is to assess the condition-monitoring and fault diagnostics needs of the power industries (for power plants equipments like generators, transformers, excitation system, protection etc) and manufacturing industries (for motors, actuators, etc), and to modernize/enhance the practicality of the relevant courses in our engineering curriculum. The project will also conduct training tailored for specific industrial condition monitoring needs. This will help Nepal to produce in-house experts in the field of condition monitoring of power and industrial equipment. Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia), Tribhuvan University (Nepal) and Royal University of Bhutan are other partners in the project.

The kick-off meeting was followed by a workshop where different aspects of a successful project implementation plan was discussed and overviewed.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Bishal Silwal, the Project Leader (KU), Assoc. Dean of School of Engineering Assoc. Prof. Brijesh Adhikary and Asst. Prof. Dr. Diwakar Bista represented Kathmandu University in the meeting and the workshop.
