Ever since the establishment in 1991, Kathmandu University (KU) has valued relationship with the community and nurtured a strong sense of partnership with the diverse communities of Kavre, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu and where its affiliated colleges are located. The University acknowledges the fact that communities entrust us with the education of their young children, provide human resources and residence to the students and, to a large extent, offer guardianship to the institution.
KU strives to be a good neighbor as well as a respectable member of the communities where it has its venues. With a pious aim to be responsive to its neighbors and to reciprocate with the local community's efforts to create an education-friendly, healthy atmosphere in the vicinity, the University establishes a Community Engagement Office within its central administration with units/desks in other venues.
The main objective of the Office is to manage the University's relationship with the local communities towards building an education-friendly and healthy atmosphere. The Office functions under the Office of the Vice Chancellor as a part of the central Secretariat.
