MOU Kathmandu University (KU) and Chauri Khola II Micro Hydro Project (CKMHP), Madan Kundari

On 28 August 2019, MoU has been signed between Kathmandu University (KU) and Chauri Khola II Micro Hydro Project (CKMHP), Madan Kundari for cooperation to facilitate research in turbine technology in Nepal and upgrade the production of power at Chauri Khola Micro Hydro Project by introducing Francis turbine designed at KU and manufactured by a local turbine manufacturer.The MoU was jointly signed by Dr. Damber Bahadur Nepali, Dean, School of Engineering and Dr. Biraj Singh Thapa, Faculty Incharge, TTL, from KU and Mr. Sudarshan Shrestha, Secretary, Chauri Khola II Micro Hydro Project.

The major objectives of the cooperation between KU and CKMHP are:

  1. Increase power production from Chauri Khola-II Micro-Hydro Project power plant with socio-economic benefits for local community.
  2. Develop infrastructures at Chauri Khola-II Micro-Hydro Project power plant for testing Micro hydro turbines.
  3. Collaboration in international research and development activities jointly with Universities, Manufacturing Industries and Funding Agencies.
  4. Explore possibilities for future cooperation in development of Micro Hydro power project in Kavrepalanchok district.
  5. Collaborate for future researches in Hydro turbine and pumps at Madan Kundari VDC.
