Admission Criteria              :  Four year BE in Civil Engineering with minimum 50% aggregate or CGPA of 2.0 from any recognized university.

Entrance Test                     : Yes. Objective and Subjective questions from Strength of Materials, Soil Mechanics, Structural Analysis, RCC, Steel and Timber Structures, and Mathematics

Why Structural Engineering?

Developing country like Nepal seeks infrastructural developments tremendously and civil engineering skilled manpower is required in large scale to fulfill the requirement. Most of the civil engineering projects include development of various structures in almost all the fields, like in water supply, hydropower, irrigation, transportation, environmental works, building construction etc. The structural engineering is necessary to design almost all kind of objects required for civil engineering projects and the country at present includes structural engineers in less than 150 numbers. One hydropower project may need more than 5 structural engineers and one major building project may require more than 3 structural engineers. In this regard, the country like Nepal, which is moving ahead in lot of constructive works in the field of civil engineering essentially, requires huge number of structural engineers at the present context.

Instruction Methods 

  • Each instructor will have the flexibility to decide on the choice and use of different methods of instructions and interactions with the students. The teaching methodology includes class rooms with traditional white boards to advance multimedia system for lecture delivery as per the need floated by the course expert or faculty. Some field visits may be supplemented as required by the course, however the cost of field visit shall not be borne by the university to the students. Visual aids, field trips, seminar and presentations, internet and computer labs etc, may also be the tools adopted by the faculties for knowledge dissemination.

Grading system will be as follows:

Students must pass all theoretical as well as practical subjects separately. Students must pass the departmental internal assessments in order to appear in the final examination. The minimum grade required to pass would be C.
