ASIAN UNIVERSITIES FORUM (AUF)

Asian Universities Forum (AUF) was initiated by former SNU President OH Yeon Cheon in 2011. This forum aims to provide a setting for exchange of views on sustainable development in the global scientific and educational arena. The forum involves sharing of ideas staying within an Annual Event Theme.
The 5th AUF was hosted by Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea from May 11-13, 2016. The theme of the 5th AUF was “Educating Future Leaders with Compassion and Social Responsibility”. Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, Vice Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha, Associate Dean of School of Engineering represented Kathmandu University in the forum in 2016.
The 6th AUF was hosted by Seoul National University and National University of Mangolia in Ulaanbaatar, Mangolia from June 6-8, 2017. The theme of the 6th AUF was “The Role of Higher Education in the Fourth Industrial Revolution”. Prof. Dr. Bhupendra Bimal Chhetri, Dean of School of Engineering and Dr. Bivek Baral, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering represented Kathmandu University.
The 7th AUF is being hosted by Seoul National University and Kathmandu University from April 14-16, 2018 in Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Kavre, Nepal. The theme of 7th AUF is “Sustainable Development Goals” and the subthemes are Goal No. 10: Reduced Inequalities and Goal No. 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. There are 47 representatives participating from 24 Universities from 15 countries this year, including 2 Universities from India, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani and Lovely Professional University (LPU), who are participating AUF this time as Observers.
